Phil Doleman

Phil Doleman been a musician for over 30 years, playing guitar, bass, banjo and ukulele. In 2004 he found himself in a band that had a number 2 hit single and so is one of the very small number of people to have played the banjo on Top of the Pops! After meeting another uke player in 2007 (there weren't that many around back then), the rock uke duo The Re-entrants was born, which went on to tour the UK for 6 years, releasing 5 CDs.

Since 2013 Phil has been performing solo, concentrating on old American music (blues, jug band, hokum, old-time, etc.), and teaching ukulele (to over 1500 people so far!)

Phil has become one of the most recognisable and in-demand ukulele performers in the UK; he has performed and taught ukulele at all of the large UK ukulele festivals, regularly teaches at the West Coast Ukulele Retreat in California, and visits ukulele clubs all over the country to run workshops. He writes a column for UKE magazine, and is the author of the book 'How Music Works on the Ukulele'. Thanks to the wonders of technology, his private students are located all over the world.
